Scholarship

I am demonstrating scholarship to my members on how to amplify their arguments in a debate setting by using textual evidence, data, and statistics.

By debating upon the issues facing our country, I am promoting civic engagement and empowering the students to use their voices and to impact their peers.I encourage all the members to debate on the pressing issues the day but after rigorous research into the truth, instead of perpetuating stereotypes and stigmas attached to the downtrodden and voiceless.

Living in an era that is filled with fake news headlines and unreliable sources, it is extremely important that I use reliable resources in my powerpoints and in the debate debriefs to showcase to students for every debate held.

Debates are held after research is taken place and the correct sources are used. I have been trained in a workshop by a UCLA professor to detect real from fake sources.

RESEARCH

Debate Debriefs are research papers that have to contain the background of the resolution along with the pro and con arguments that relate to the resolution. These are used in any debates held throughout conventions and one-day conventions to aid students in research and understanding of the topic. Listed below are debriefs I have researched and written.

As we meet every Monday, I create and develop a lesson plan and activity for each meeting. It is either a debate activity, game, or an article we analyze and develop arguments for or against. Listed below are some of the many presentations and activities I have held.
